The St. Michael the Archangel House of Priestly Formation exists to cultivate the intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral life of priests within the fraternity of the Cor Jesu Society. Rooted in the Church’s great tradition of priestly study and spiritual discipline, the House of Formation provides a structured environment where clergy can deepen their knowledge of Sacred Scripture, theology, pastoral practice, and the spiritual life.
Recognizing the realities of contemporary ministry, formation at the House of St. Michael is offered in a hybrid format that integrates in-person gatherings, virtual instruction, individual study, and communal learning with fellow priests. This model allows members to pursue serious theological and spiritual formation while remaining faithfully engaged in their pastoral assignments.
Under the patronage of St. Michael the Archangel, the House of Formation seeks to strengthen priests in wisdom, fidelity, and courage so that their ministry may more fully reflect the Heart of Christ. Through disciplined study, shared prayer, and fraternal dialogue, the House serves as a place where priests continue the lifelong work of formation for the good of the Church and the service of God’s people.

We believe that the renewal of the Church begins with the continual formation of her priests. For this reason, our program is rooted in a spirit of encouragement, fraternity, and disciplined study, where priests are supported and strengthened in their vocation while being invited into deeper intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral growth.
Formation within the House of St. Michael is intentionally rigorous yet deeply supportive. We seek to build up priests rather than burden them, recognizing that authentic formation flourishes in an environment of trust, mutual respect, and shared commitment to Christ and His Church. Through serious engagement with Sacred Scripture, theology, prayer, and pastoral reflection, participants are challenged to grow in wisdom and fidelity while remaining grounded in the joy of priestly fraternity.
In this way, the House of Formation is not simply a program of study, but a community of priests committed to strengthening one another—encouraging perseverance in ministry, cultivating theological depth, and renewing the spiritual foundations that sustain a lifetime of pastoral service. Under the patronage of St. Michael the Archangel, we strive to form priests who are intellectually prepared, spiritually rooted, and pastorally courageous in proclaiming the Gospel in every age.

The St. Michael the Archangel House of Priestly Formation brings together priests at many stages of ministry, creating a learning community enriched by both scholarship and pastoral experience. Within the House, one will find priests who hold doctoral degrees in theology and related disciplines, alongside those who have spent decades in parish ministry, pastoral leadership, and spiritual care. Their wisdom, research, and lived experience contribute to a dynamic environment where knowledge is not merely transmitted, but shared in fraternity.
At the same time, the House warmly welcomes newly ordained priests and those who desire to deepen their theological and pastoral understanding. The purpose of this formation is not to create hierarchy within learning, but to cultivate mutual enrichment, where seasoned priests and emerging leaders learn from one another in a spirit of humility and shared vocation.
This diversity of experience is one of the House’s greatest strengths. Academic scholarship, pastoral practice, and the lived realities of priestly ministry meet in conversation, reflection, and study. In this way, the House of St. Michael seeks to embody a community where intellectual excellence, pastoral wisdom, and humble discipleship walk together—ensuring that every participant, regardless of experience, finds both encouragement and challenge as they continue to grow in service to Christ and His Church.
