society leadership

The Cor Jesu Society is governed according to a structure that reflects both the tradition of priestly fraternity within the Church and the ecclesial principles of shared responsibility, spiritual authority, and service.

At the heart of the Society’s governance is the Chapter, which serves as the principal deliberative and governing body of the Society. Composed of the members of the Society, the Chapter safeguards the charism, mission, and Rule of Life of the Cor Jesu Society. In keeping with the ancient traditions of ecclesial governance, the Chapter represents the collective discernment of the Society and ensures that its life remains faithful to the Gospel, the priestly vocation, and the mission of the Church.

The Chapter exercises responsibility for matters essential to the life of the Society, including the admission of members according to its statutes, the establishment of norms that guide the common life of the Society, and the preservation of its founding charisms: reverent liturgical life, ongoing theological formation, and pastoral service to the Gospel.

From among the members of the Society, the Chapter elects a Superior General, who serves as the principal moderator and spiritual leader of the fraternity. The Superior General is entrusted with fostering unity among the members, encouraging fidelity to the Society’s Rule of Life, and promoting the spiritual and pastoral mission of the Society within the life of the Church.

The Superior General serves for a term of six years, reflecting the Church’s longstanding practice of stable yet accountable leadership. In his role, the Superior General does not govern as an isolated authority but rather exercises leadership in communion with the members of the Society and in fidelity to the decisions of the Chapter. His responsibility is to guide, animate, and represent the Society, ensuring that its mission remains rooted in the Heart of Christ and directed toward the service of the People of God.

Through this structure of fraternity, shared discernment, and spiritual leadership, the Cor Jesu Society seeks to embody a model of priestly life that is both faithful to the Church’s tradition and responsive to the pastoral needs of the present age.

In all things, the leadership of the Society is ordered toward a single purpose: that the priests of the Cor Jesu Society may live and serve ever more faithfully Ad Cor Jesu — to the Heart of Jesus — for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.

Fr. Taylor Tracy, CJS

Father Taylor Tracy, CJS, is the founder of the Cor Jesu Society and serves as its Superior General. After many years of prayerful discernment regarding the needs of priests in contemporary ministry, Father Tracy gathered together a fraternity of clergy who share a common commitment to strengthening the life of the priesthood through reverent liturgical life, sustained theological formation, and dedicated pastoral service to the people of God.

Ordained to the priesthood with a deep love for the Church and her sacramental life, Father Tracy has served in a variety of pastoral settings throughout his ministry. His experience includes service as a parish pastor, church planter, clinical pastoral counselor and hospice chaplain, and spiritual director. In each of these roles, his work has centered on accompanying individuals and communities with pastoral care rooted in prayer, theological reflection, and the healing presence of Christ.

Through the Cor Jesu Society, Father Tracy seeks to cultivate a community of priests who support one another in fidelity to the Gospel and in the ongoing renewal of their priestly vocation. The Society exists to encourage reverent worship, intellectual and spiritual formation, and generous pastoral ministry so that the Heart of Christ may be made present more fully in the life of the Church.
